WANDERER CONTROL SYSTEM
The number of elderly people in our society is constantly increasing. The care for these persons requires more and more staff capacity in hospitals, old-age and nursing homes. The typical inmate in old-age homes is between 60 and 80 years of age. Many of them, who are still very active physically, are mentally confused to such an extent that they forget where they are. Therefore they might leave the hospital or nursing home unnoticed and expose themselves to the dangers outside (e.g. road traffic). In addition, the search for these persons and getting them back is time-consuming and expensive. Relatives and nursing staff get worried and other patients feel insecure by the strain a search for a missed person involves. Attempts to solve this problem with traditional systems have not been too successful.
